Mayor Robinson Announces ‘Leading Together Cities Agenda’ for Presidential Task Force
Mayor Grover Robinson announced today the
Leading Together Cities Agenda on behalf of the National League of Cities 2020 Presidential Election Task Force, which focuses on promoting bipartisan priorities that are important to cities and communities throughout the United States.
The Cities Agenda recommends that the future president adopt the following four priorities in the first 100 days of the new administration:
- Building sustainable infrastructure
- Creating a skilled workforce
- Ending housing instability and homelessness
- Reducing gun violence
The Cities Agenda also highlights
shared values including respect, partnership, inclusion and accountability. The 2020 Presidential Election Task Force is calling on presidential candidates to endorse the Cities Agenda, united in the belief that the U.S. is strongest when all levels of government work together to protect and advance the priorities of America’s communities and their residents.
"We will continue to focus on leading together," Mayor Robinson said. "We think that's the message we want to send from the cities, is how we work with federal agencies as we move forward in the next election, and we hope that every candidate will sign on to that agenda."
Mayor Robinson joined the 2020 Presidential Task Force last month, which includes 33 other local elected officials from across the country and is a partnership with the National League of Cities.
The Task Force will be looking to find solutions for cities, towns and villages on the national election stage. During the 2020 Presidential election cycle, it is important that every community and resident feel their voice and priorities are being heard.
