We all know Pensacola is a beautiful place to live, work and play, and our little slice of paradise continues to be an increasingly popular tourist destination. U.S. and international travel news website travelpulse.com recently featured Pensacola in an article "Why Pensacola is Perfect for a Family Vacation," calling a vacation to Pensacola "like stepping into another world."

Donut Strike 4 Manna Ends Friday!
Donut Strike 4 Manna is happening NOW, with a goal of raising 20,000 pounds of food for Manna Food Pantries to distribute to families in need. Be sure to make your donations by tomorrow, Friday, June 28, at one of the drop-off sites or at Manna Food Pantries.
Your local first responders, including our very own Pensacola Police Department and Pensacola Fire Department, have joined the commitment to not eat a single donut until the community donates at least 20,000 pounds of food.
How can you participate?
First responders will be at grocery locations throughout the Pensacola area accepting donations from the public during the strike. If you want to help give our first responders their donuts back, be sure to visit one of the drop-off sites with your donations!

Donations can also be dropped off at Manna, 3030 N. E. St., from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the donut strike. Be sure to mention the donut strike so your donations can be counted toward the event!
Some items needed include:
- Canned chicken and tuna
- Peanut butter
- Canned fruit in 100 percent juice
- Oatmeal
- Whole grain cereal
- Canned vegetables

July Fourth Festivities for the
Whole Family
Happy Independence Day to all of our Pensacola residents and visitors! This holiday wouldn't be complete without fireworks, and the Pensacola area has several options to safely enjoy fireworks shows with the whole family.
In downtown Pensacola, Sertoma organizations will host their 29th annual Independence Day celebration, including the largest fireworks display on the Gulf Coast over Pensacola Bay starting at 9 p.m.
The festivities also feature free children's activities in Seville Square from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., arts and crafts vendors, live entertainment and more. Don’t miss an exciting FREE Sparks & Stars performance from the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra at the Hunter Amphitheater in Vince Whibbs Community Maritime Park at 7:30 p.m.

If you prefer to spend a day on Pensacola Beach and enjoy fireworks from the water or sand, that show begins at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 4.
A July Fourth Independence Day Festival will also be held in Belmont-DeVilliers from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., featuring a street fair, live music, speakers and a dance at the Belmont-DeVilliers Cultural Heritage Museum, 500 W. Belmont St. Funds raised at the event will be used will be used to help fund improvements to the museum building, which will then be made available as a venue for public use. July Fourth Closures and Sanitation Schedule Changes
With the Independence Day holiday upon us, just a reminder to residents that City of Pensacola offices will be closed on Thursday, July 4. Some City Sanitation customers will also see changes to their pickup schedule. Customers who normally receive service on Thursdays will receive service on Wednesday, July 3. All other customers will receive service on their normal pickup day. If you're looking for something fun to do on the holiday, Osceola Golf Course will remain open, along with Hunter Pool and Roger Scott Pool (limited pool hours). Celebrate National Park and Recreation Month in July!
This July, the City of Pensacola Parks and Recreation Department is game on for Park and Recreation Month. All month long, we’ll be celebrating the fun and games that local parks and recreation offers to residents of all ages and abilities. Summer is here and that means it’s time to get out and explore the great things happening at your local parks and recreation centers. This July, a variety of fun activities are planned for residents of all ages and abilities – including summer camps, a Rock & Roll Tie Dye Party for seniors, movies in the park, free concerts and more. Or get out and enjoy one of the city’s 93 parks by talking a walk or jog, planning a picnic, throwing a Frisbee, playing on a playground, or just enjoying being in nature.
Park and Recreation Month is an initiative of the National Recreation and Park Association, and we are inviting you to get in the game. Gulf Coast Running Club Captures Nine Medals at
AAU Regional Championship
The Gulf Coast Running Club had another successful weekend at the AAU Regional Championship in Tallahassee, Florida. Even with 100-degree weather and a blazing hot sun beating down on them, the team raked in four gold, three silver, and two bronze medals. Dalton Lewis, Richard Whatley, Aza Boykin and Daniel Holzknecht were successful both as a team and individually as they placed 1st in the Mens 800m Relay. Lewis and Whatley topped the podium in the Men’s 800m, placing 1st and 2nd respectively, while Holzknecht placed 3rd in the Men’s 1500m.
The Gulf Coast Running Club, known as the G.O.A.T Farm (Greatest Of All Time) to their fans, also took home gold and silver in the 15/16 division, with Francisco Ramirez placing 1st in the Boys 1500m, James Simkins placing 2nd, and Sa’Nora Campbell and Mariah Harris placing 3rd and 5th in the 100m, respectively. In the Girls 400m Hurdles Caliya Gee placed 5th.
All team members above qualified for the AAU Junior Olympic Games in Greensboro, North Carolina from July 24 to August 3rd. 16,000 athletes competing in 20 sports will attend the games, all vying for gold, and the G.O.A.T Farm might just be leading the pack.
