Pensacola International Airport logs record number of passengers for March

March was a busy month for the Pensacola International Airport—in fact it was the busiest March on record.

A total of 191,157 passengers came through PNS during March, an increase of 22 percent compared to the previous year. In March 2018, 156,731 total passengers flew through PNS.

“While the Pensacola International Airport is a small airport, the significant increase proves that we are growing,” Airport Director Dan Flynn said. “With the addition of Frontier Airlines, an ultra-low cost carrier, as well as new service to Philadelphia, Ft. Lauderdale and Newark this summer, passengers simply have more options out of Pensacola. As we continue to see rapid growth heading into the busy summer season, we constantly encourage passengers to arrive early!"

PNS offers 20 non-stop destinations from six commercial and regional airlines. The airport sees nearly 80 arrival and departures daily.

Pedestrian signs added at Main and Jefferson Street intersection

City of Pensacola has added pedestrian safety improvements to the intersection of Main and Jefferson Streets.

At the direction of Mayor Grover Robinson, the Public Works Department installed a pedestrian sign with flashing lights on both sides of Main Street. Mayor Robinson, City Administrator Chris Holley and Assistant City Administrator Keith Wilkins visited the intersection on Thursday, April 18 to test out the new signage for themselves.

Mayor Robinson said he is committed to looking for solutions that make Pensacola streets safe for all users.

REMINDER: Mayor’s Town Hall meeting for District 2 is April 29

Mayor Grover Robinson will hold his third town hall meeting on April 29 at 6:00 p.m. at Asbury Place at Cokesbury Church.

Mayor Robinson has been working with Councilwoman Sherri Myers to plan this town hall. He has already held town halls in District 5 with Councilman Gerald Wingate and District 7 with Councilwoman Jewel Cannada-Wynn.

Hosting town halls is a high priority for Mayor Robinson. During his campaign for mayor, Robinson promised he would host town halls at various locations throughout the City so citizens would not have to come to City Hall to have their voice heard.

Mayor Robinson hopes citizens will attend the town hall so he can work with them to come up with a plan to move the City forward.

The City of Pensacola invites you to a ribbon cutting celebration for the new playground at Armstrong Park, 300 West Lakeview Avenue on Friday, April 26th at 4:15 p.m. The new playground features new climbers, slides, and interactive elements for all ages.

This is the second of five playground installations the City has planned for 2019. The first playground was recently installed at Hitzman-Optimist Park in March. There are 3 remaining playgrounds on the schedule at Parker Circle Park, Springdale Park, and Tierre Verde Park. We anticipate these installations to be completed by the end of summer.

Bike Pensacola puts on Tippin Park Fun Ride

Join us May 4 for a leisurely neighborhood ride among friends.

The route is a 3.9 mile loop that also visits Parker Circle Neighborhood Park before returning to Tippin Park. The Ride celebrates a new map of the loop created by Bike Pensacola for Pensacola City Councilwoman Sherri Myers.

There is also a park beautification project taking place following the Ride, so please stay for that if you can.
