Mayor Grover Robinson announces first town hall meeting

Mayor Robinson announces first town hall meeting

Mayor Grover Robinson will hold his first town hall meeting on January 24 at 5:30 p.m. at the Woodland Heights Resource Center

“I’m looking forward to having my first town hall in District 5,” Robinson said during a press conference on Monday. “We’ll rotate to a different district next month, but I’m excited to start there.”

Mayor Robinson has been working with Councilman Gerald Wingate to plan the first event. Councilman Wingate serves District 5.

“I’d like to see citizens come to this town hall to meet Mayor Robinson and myself to let us know what they want out of their community,” Councilman Wingate said.

Hosting town halls is a high priority for Mayor Robinson. During his campaign for mayor, Robinson promised he would host town halls at various locations throughout the City so citizens would not have to come to City Hall to have their voice heard.

Pensacola International Airport sends holiday reminder

With continuing record numbers, be sure to ARRIVE EARLY and allow yourself plenty of time to park, check-in, and make your way through the security checkpoint. ??

Below are a few tips to make your holiday travel a little easier this season:

1. Arrive early! Allow yourself plenty of time to park, check your luggage and make your way through the security checkpoint. We recommend passengers arrive no later than 2 - 2.5 hours prior to their scheduled boarding time.

2. Make sure that your carry-on and checked luggage meet all airline and TSA requirements BEFORE you get to the airport. Contact your individual airline for luggage weight/size restrictions. Learn more about the TSA Security Screening process by clicking here: http://bit.ly/1JAOzBT

3. Do not leave your vehicle unattended at curbside while dropping-off or picking-up passengers. Violators may be ticketed and towed at vehicle owner's expense.

4. Do not park vehicles at curbside for an extended period of time while waiting to pick-up arriving passengers. Please park and wait in the cell phone lot until you've received confirmation that your guest has arrived and is ready to be picked-up at the curb.

5. There is no special holiday parking rate. #FlyPensacola proudly offers exceptional low parking rates year-round. Learn more about Parking Lot locations and Lot Rates by clicking here: http://bit.ly/2fDYAuH

Boat Ramp

The new year is here, time to renew your boat ramp permit

The City of Pensacola Parks and Recreation Department operates four (4) boat launches year-round. Usage requires a daily fee or annual permit.

The City of Pensacola Parks and Recreation Department is now issuing boat launch permits for 2019. Use of the City’s four boat launches located at Bayview Park, Sanders Beach (currently closed for repairs), 17th Avenue, and Bayou Texar requires paying a daily fee or purchasing an annual boat launch permit.

The rates for 2019 boat launch permits remain unchanged and are as follows:
$26.88 ($25.00 + $1.88 sales tax) for residents in the City of Pensacola limits
        $80.63 ($75.00 + $5.63 sales tax) for non-City residents

All new permit requests require registration and proof of residency in person at the Parks and Recreation Main Office at City Hall, 222 West Main Street. Annual boat launch permits issued this month and anytime in 2019 will be valid through December 31, 2019.
The City of Pensacola offers three ways to renew your permit.
  1. In person at Parks and Recreation, 4th Floor of City Hall, 222 West Main Street
  2. By mail—Mail a check or money order to City of Pensacola Parks and Recreation Department, PO Box 12910, Pensacola, FL 32521-0054, along with your name and address, and the department will mail the permit to you. Please indicate 2019 Boat Launch Permit in the memo section of your check or money order.
  3. By phone—Call the Parks and Recreation Department at 850-436-5670 during normal business hours (8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday) with your credit
card information and a permit will be mailed to you.

Boat Launch Permits will be issued in the form of a hang tag which is to be placed on the rear view mirror of the vehicle so that it is visible to our staff monitoring these lots. There is also a pay-on-site option for $5 per day. Envelopes and collection boxes are located next to the boat ramps. If utilizing the pay-on-site option, tear off the proof of payment tab and place it on your dashboard where it is visible to staff before placing your payment envelope in the locked collection box.

For more information, please call the City of Pensacola Parks and Recreation Department at (850) 436-5670.
