Street Resurfacing and Natural Gas Improvements

Construction crews are addressing punch list items as they move toward completion of the city’s two-year street resurfacing program. Nearly 2,000-blocks, or more than 119-miles of streets and roadways throughout Pensacola have been milled and resurfaced.

Final efforts needed to complete the program include repairing concrete curbs, drainage inlets, gutters, and sidewalks; applying pavement striping; and, replacing raised and reflective pavement markers.

Work in the program should conclude in December.

Meantime, work continues to replace more than 75-miles of obsolete underground cast-iron natural gas main. Crews are replacing the cast-iron pipes with safer, more efficient, and reliable medium-density polyethylene pipe. Crews have completed replacement of cast-iron gas main in 18 of the city’s 20 natural gas sectors.

Most of the work in both the repaving and natural gas distribution system programs is taking place off the roadway with limited traffic impacts.
