Street Resurfacing and Natural Gas Improvements

No milling and resurfacing work is scheduled this week in the citywide street resurfacing program. Instead, construction crews will focus on repairing concrete sidewalks, curbs, and gutters; and, adjusting the height of manhole covers and valves on streets that have been resurfaced.

The work isn’t expected to impact traffic. All work in the program is scheduled for completion later this year.

Meantime, Pensacola Energy crews will continue work to replace more than 75-miles of obsolete, cast-iron natural gas lines with new, polyethylene pipes. The natural gas work will take place primarily off the roadway, but vehicles parked on the street must be removed before work begins. The natural gas main replacement program is slated for completion early next year.

All planned construction activities are weather-dependent. Work may be postponed, delayed, or re-scheduled in the event of rain, cold, windy or other inclement conditions.

More information on the street resurfacing program is available by calling the city’s information line, (850) 380-9188. Questions about the natural gas distribution system upgrades should be referred to Pensacola Energy, (850) 474-5300.
