Drivers on East Wright Street, between Davis Highway and North 10th Avenue, will encounter milling and resurfacing work this week during daytime hours. The construction activities are part of the citywide program to mill and resurface approximately 1,400 blocks (or 119-miles) of streets and roadways throughout Pensacola.
Traffic impacts may include temporary lane closures and the possibility of increased congestion.
Vehicles parked on Wright Street must be removed before work can begin. Cars left on the city-owned right-of-way will be subject to relocation.
Work in the street resurfacing program is scheduled for completion later this year.
Meantime, Pensacola Energy crews will continue work to replace more than 75-miles of obsolete, cast-iron natural gas lines with new, polyethylene pipes. The natural gas work will take place primarily off the roadway, but vehicles parked on the street must be removed before work begins. The natural gas main replacement program is slated for completion early next year.
All planned construction activities are weather-dependent. Work may be postponed, delayed, or re-scheduled in the event of rain, cold, windy or other inclement conditions.
More information on the street resurfacing program is available by calling the city’s information line, (850) 380-9188. Questions about the natural gas distribution system upgrades should be referred to Pensacola Energy, (850) 474-5300.
