Wilkins named interim City Administrator


Mayor Ashton Hayward named Keith Wilkins as Interim City Administrator on August 3, 2018. Wilkins previously served in the role as Assistant City Administrator since November 2015.

Wilkins has 35 years’ experience working in business management, public administration and natural resource management. Before working for the City, he was the Director of Natural Resource Management for Escambia County.

Wilkins is a graduate of the Environmental Studies Program at the University of West Florida with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Social Studies.


City Hall Selfie Day is Wednesday, August 15


Mark your calendars! August 15 is National City Hall Selfie Day.

How does it work, you ask? Easy! Visit City Hall on August 15, snap a photo of yourself or your group and post the photo to social media using the hashtag #CityHallSelfie so everyone can see. 

City Hall Selfie Day is put on by Engaging Local Government Leaders (ELGL). ELGL will be handing out trophies, recognition and prizes for the people and organizations that show the most pride and creativity. Let's show them what Pensacola has to offer!

Police Chief Tommi Lyter to promote 15 cadets


Pensacola Police Chief Tommi Lyter announced he will promote 15 cadet recruits to officers next week.

Their official swearing in ceremony will be August 28. The next round of cadets will be promoted toward the end of January or beginning of February of next year. Once the new recruits get on the street, PPD's patrol unit will be considered fully-staffed.

Last week, Fire Chief Ginny Cranor swore in Firefighter Neil Hamel. He reported for duty on C Watch this past Tuesday. Hamel was a Fire Cadet through the City of Pensacola’s program.

Just for fun! Mayor judges cooking contest


The City of Pensacola's Housing Department held a cooking contest during their lunch break on Tuesday.

Mayor Ashton Hayward, Interim City Administrator Keith Wilkins and Public Information Officer Vernon Stewart agreed to be the judges. 

Congratulations to the overall winner, Housing Director Marci Whitaker, for your (husband's) take on crock pot jerk chicken and rice. Delicious! Great job to all the cooks!

Hill-Kelly Movies in the Park Series returns Friday


The Hill-Kelly Movies in the Park Series Presented by Cox returns to the Community Maritime Park on August 10 with a showing of The Justice League.

Bring your blankets and chairs then spread out on the lawn to watch a family-friendly movie underneath the stars.

Movies begin at sunset and FREE event parking is available at Community Maritime Park and City Hall.

Come hungry because concessions are available from local food trucks! Picnic baskets are welcome too, but no pets or glass containers please.

Movies are shown at the Hunter Amphitheater beginning at sunset.
