Downtown street closures scheduled next week

Downtown drivers will encounter lane shifts and street closures next week as work continues in the citywide street resurfacing program.

Monday, August 7, Main Street traffic will be shifted to the south side of the street to allow crews to complete manholes, adjust valves, and paint crosswalks. The shift will begin at 5 a.m. and remain in place for 24-hours. Palafox Street, from Zarragossa Street to Main Street will be closed until late afternoon

Tuesday, August 8, Main Street traffic will be shifted to the north side of the street for similar work. The shift will begin at 5 a.m. and remain in place for 24-hours. Palafox Street will be closed until late afternoon between Cedar and Main.

Wednesday, August 9, Palafox Street will be closed between Government and Intendencia for work on bollards. The closure will remain in place for 24-hours.  There will also be periodic lane closures on Palafox Street near the Cedar, Gimble, and Pine Street intersections to accommodate crosswalk painting.

Thursday, August 10, Intendencia Street will be closed between Palafox and Jefferson Streets for bollard work. This will also be a 24-hour closure.

The construction schedule is weather dependent, and work may be re-scheduled in the event of inclement weather. More information on the street resurfacing program is available by contacting the city’s engineering consultant, Atkins, Inc., (850) 380-9188.
