Palafox Street paving work postponed
Rain associated with Tropical Storm Cindy has caused a suspension of work in the city’s street resurfacing program. Original plans to mill and resurface Palafox Street this week have been postponed pending a break in the weather.
National Weather Service forecasts call for 5-10 inches of rain for the Pensacola area by the end of Thursday, July 22.
Construction crews are monitoring weather conditions and forecasts with a goal of resuming work once conditions improve.
The city’s street resurfacing program includes milling and paving approximately 119-miles of streets throughout Pensacola. Work in the current phase of the program is scheduled for completion later this summer. Future phases are planned to begin later this year and extend into 2018.
More information on the program is available by calling Atkins, Inc., the city’s engineering consultant, (850) 380-9188.
