Street resurfacing and natural gas infrastructure update
Rain last week disrupted the milling and paving schedule in the city’s street resurfacing program. This week, nighttime work is again planned for Palafox Street.
Here is the current downtown schedule for Sunday, June 11 through Wednesday, June 14:
Sun., June 11:
- Main Street to Garden Street.
- Palafox/Chase intersection.
- Palafox/Gregory intersection.
Mon., June 12:
- Palafox Place to Main Street (begin)
Tues., June 13:
- Garden Street to West Jackson Street (begin)
- Palafox Place to Main Street (complete)
Wed., June 14:
- Garden Street to West Jackson Street (complete)
The work is scheduled for nighttime hours to minimize impacts for drivers and businesses. The schedule is weather-dependent, and may be revised in the event of inclement weather. Cars parked on the street must be removed before work can begin. Any vehicles left on the street will be subject to relocation.
More information on the street resurfacing program is available by contacting the city’s engineering consultant, Atkins, Inc., (850) 380-9188.
The rain was even more unkind to crews working to replace cast-iron gas mains with new medium-density polyethylene pipes. No work was accomplished in the program last week. Crews will return to the replacement activities this week. More information on the program is available by calling Pensacola Energy, (850) 474-5300.
