Mayor Hayward

VT MAE crosses finish line

VT MAE

Mayor Ashton Hayward, Governor Rick Scott, and other local and state leaders broke ground on the 173,000 sq-foot planned major aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facility at Pensacola International Airport.  The project will create 400 new jobs. The groundbreaking marks a major milestone in this collaborative project. With this project and the 400 jobs that come with it, we are solidifying Pensacola International Airport’s role as an economic driver of the city for decades to come.

The project will secure a foothold for Pensacola in the aerospace industry and will spark the development of an aviation cluster in Northwest Florida. Design and construction of the $46 million dollar project is being made possible through a combination of funds from the State of Florida/Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), the City of Pensacola, Escambia County, VT MAE, and the Industry Recruitment, Retention and Expansion Fund.

Minority/Women Business Enterprise (M/WBE) Program

The City has created the Minority/Women Business Enterprise (M/WBE) program in response to the findings of the Comprehensive Disparity Study prepared by MGT of America. The program is intended to assist certified minority and women-owned businesses with identifying and participating in City of Pensacola procurement and construction opportunities.

The M/WBE certification is a valuable tool for doing business with the City. There is no cost; and completing the process requires no financial require financial, legal, or other paid professional assistance to complete the process. Other benefits include business networking with prime vendors and each certified M/WBE business being listed in our M/WBE Directory. The purpose of the M/WBE Directory is to assist prime contractors, the general public, and city departments in their efforts to identify certified minority- and women-owned vendors.
