Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Waitlist Closing
July 11
In accordance with the guidelines of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the City of Pensacola Housing Department will stop accepting applications to the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program waitlist effective July 11, 2022, until further notice.
Although new applications will no longer be accepted after this date, the closure does not affect those who have applied to the waitlist prior to July 11, 2022. Applications received prior to this date will be processed according to the Housing Department’s approved policies in the order they have been received. Applicants currently on the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waitlist should maintain valid contact information with the City of Pensacola Housing Department.
At this time, the City of Pensacola cannot predict when the waitlist will reopen. Before the waitlist is scheduled to reopen for new applications, advance notice will be provided to the public.
The City of Pensacola Housing Department administers the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program in Escambia County. The Housing Choice Voucher program is a federally funded and locally administered program that assists low-income families, people with disabilities, and the elderly to afford housing in the private market. The program provides a housing subsidy to a private landlord on a program participant’s behalf which assists with paying a portion of the rent.
