East Garden District - Jefferson Street Revitalization Project Ribbon Cutting Feb. 15
The City of Pensacola invites the community to a ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, Feb. 15 at 4 p.m. to celebrate complete street improvements to Jefferson Street as part of the East Garden District Project. Improvements include wider sidewalks with pavers, landscaping, the undergrounding of power, new utilities and drainage, road lane narrowing, road resurfacing, safety upgrades and more.
The ribbon cutting will take place at the intersection of Jefferson Street and Garden Street. Mayor Grover Robinson will be joined by city officials along with representatives from the East Garden District and the Community Redevelopment Agency to celebrate the enhancements to Jefferson Street, which mark the completion of the first phase of the East Garden District Project. Jefferson Street is expected to reopen to traffic by end of day Friday, Feb. 4.
"These improvements will serve as a catalyst for the Jefferson and Garden Street area as it grows and develops, making the roadway not only more aesthetically pleasing, but also more pedestrian friendly," Mayor Grover Robinson said. "I look forward to seeing the entire East Garden District project come to fruition as we continue to make Pensacola even more appealing for both residents and visitors."
The East Garden District - Jefferson Street Revitalization Project began in April 2021, and is inspired by unique placemaking, community growth, and the City of Pensacola’s great history.
