B Street and Gimble Street Stormwater Rehabilitation Project to Begin Nov. 16
Construction of the B Street and Gimble Street Stormwater Rehabilitation Project will begin Monday, Nov. 16, which will repair and rehabilitate a 54" stormwater pipe located near Joe Patti's Seafood.
This project includes rehabilitating a large 54” metal stormwater pipe that runs from B Street and Gimble Street beneath the Joe Patti’s Seafood business parking lot and discharges into the A Street ditch. The existing stormwater pipe is several decades old and is in significant disrepair in numerous locations.
Construction is expected to take approximately 60 working days to complete, weather permitting.
To minimize disruption to the parking lot for the Joe Patti’s Seafood business, an in-place pipe lining system will be used to avoid excavating the parking lot to remove and replace the existing pipe in question. This process will ensure the pipe's longevity for several more decades and will significantly reduce potential public safety issues with the parking lot.
Pensacola City Council awarded a contract to Vortex Companies of Houston, Texas for completion of the B Street and Gimble Street Stormwater Project.
A city construction inspector will be monitoring the contractor and project progress daily. During construction, the contractor will be required to implement all necessary safety precautions onsite.
