UPDATE: Langley Avenue Roundabout Project
The Langley Avenue traffic continues to be detoured while construction progresses on this project. Drivers are asked to use alternate routes if possible and to follow all posted speed limit signs along the detour route. Safety precautions for vehicular and pedestrian traffic and accommodations for residents have continued to be implemented to ensure the least amount of inconvenience.
To date, all infrastructure work on the south side of the roadway and the work for all center islands have been completed. In addition, all storm structures and pipes have been installed. Because of this work, the project is approximately 50 percent complete. However, due to rain and other extenuating circumstances, the project has been delayed approximately three weeks. The project is scheduled to reach substantial completion the week of Oct. 23, 2020, weather permitting. The road closure is expected to continue through that time as well.
A city construction inspector will be monitoring the project progress daily. Proper signage and detour routes have been selected and clearly designated for safe flow of vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Accommodations for local access to residential properties during this period will be required by the contractor and closely monitored by the city.
This project is intended to provide safe entry and exit from the Hitzman Park complex, as well as regulate the flow of traffic for Langley Avenue. The Pensacola City Council awarded a contract to Panhandle Grading and Paving Inc. of Pensacola to complete the project.
