UPDATE: Langley Avenue Roundabout Project
The eastbound and westbound closure of Langley Avenue originally scheduled to begin in August has been expedited due to safety issues with drivers navigating the detour in the area. Langley Avenue at Hilltop Drive is closed to eastbound and westbound traffic for construction of the Langley Avenue Roundabout Project.
Traffic is being detoured in the area. Drivers are asked to use alternate routes if possible, and to follow all posted speed limit signs along the detour route. This closure will continue through approximately Oct. 8, 2020, weather permitting.
A city construction inspector will be monitoring the project progress daily. Proper signage and detour routes have been selected and clearly designated for safe flow of vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Accommodations for local access to residential properties during this period will be required by the contractor and closely monitored by the city.
This project is intended to provide safe entry and exit from the Hitzman Park complex, as well as regulate the flow of traffic for Langley Avenue. The project incorporates many aesthetic enhancements including lush landscaping, brick paver surfaces and low-impact development practices that includes bioswales for stormwater management.
The Pensacola City Council awarded a contract to Panhandle Grading and Paving Inc. of Pensacola to complete the Langley Avenue Roundabout Project.
