Langley Avenue Roundabout Project to Begin July 13
Construction for the Langley Avenue Roundabout Project will begin Monday, July 13 at 6 a.m. This project is intended to provide safe entry and exit from the Hitzman Park complex, as well as regulate the flow of traffic for Langley Avenue. The project incorporates many aesthetic enhancements including lush landscaping, brick paver surfaces and low-impact development practices that includes bioswales for stormwater management.
Eastbound traffic will be detoured on Langley Avenue between McAllister Drive and Hibiscus Road. This lane closure will continue for the first 30 days of the project. For the remainder of the project, both eastbound and westbound roads will be closed to through traffic and continue through Oct. 8, 2020.
Construction is expected to take approximately 90 days, weather permitting, and a city construction inspector will be monitoring the project progress daily. Proper signage and detour routes have been selected and will be clearly designated for safe flow of vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Accommodations for local access to residential properties during this period will be required by the contractor and closely monitored by the city.
The Pensacola City Council awarded a contract to Panhandle Grading and Paving Inc. of Pensacola to complete the Langley Avenue Roundabout Project.
