Davis Highway at Carpenter’s Creek
(North Side) Stormwater Treatment Enhancement Project to Begin May 11

Construction of the Davis Highway at Carpenter’s Creek (North Side) Stormwater Treatment Enhancement Project will begin Monday, May 11. This project will provide underground stormwater treatment for approximately 75 acres of stormwater runoff that currently discharges into Carpenter’s Creek untreated primarily from the surrounding dense commercial area and the Davis Highway right of way.

The project will have a very positive impact on the delicate ecosystem of both Carpenter’s Creek and Bayou Texar (downstream) by substantially removing pollutants from the stormwater runoff before it enters the creek.

The treatment unit will be installed on the northern side of Carpenter’s Creek in the east Davis Highway right of way. Please see map for details. Stormwater inlets and piping will also be placed in the right of way to facilitate the project and traffic interruptions to Davis Highway during construction are anticipated to be very minimal.

Construction is expected to take approximately nine weeks to complete, weather permitting, and a city construction inspector will be monitoring the project progress daily. The project contractor will be required to implement all necessary environmental and public safety precautions and measures during construction.

The Pensacola City Council awarded the construction contract to Site and Utility Inc. of Pensacola.
