American Magic Send-off Celebration Set for March 16

The community is invited to join the City of Pensacola, Port of Pensacola and Pensacola Yacht Club for a send-off celebration for American Magic as the sailing team prepares to leave Pensacola and continue training for the 2021 America's Cup. The event will be held on Monday, March 16 from 5-7 p.m. at the Fish House, 600 S. Barracks St.

This free, family-friendly event will give the public an opportunity to meet members of the New York Yacht Club American Magic sailing team, take photos and get autographs from the team. Mayor Grover Robinson will also present a proclamation at the event.

Register Now for Bayou Hills Run City of Pensacola Championships March 28

There's still time to register for the Bayou Hills Run City of Pensacola 5K/10K Championships on Saturday, March 28, which will give runners the opportunity to earn bragging rights and the title of City Champion.

Formerly known as the Bayou Hills Run, the Bayou Hills Run 5K/10K City Championships are a partnership between Pensacola Sports and the City of Pensacola. Overall male and female winners in both the 5K and 10K categories will go in front of City Council and be recognized, as well as being presented with awards with the title “Pensacola City Champion” on them.

Registration is open at bayouhillsrun.org, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Creative Learning Academy.

Mayor's Neighborhood Cleanup Collects Over 68 Tons of Bulk Waste

The latest Mayor's Neighborhood Cleanup collected over 68 tons (137,750 pounds) of bulk waste, along with 91 tires and 1,440 gallons of paint. The cleanup took place on Saturday, Feb. 29 and included over 2,000 houses in the cleanup area.

The Mayor's Neighborhood Cleanup allows residents in the cleanup areas to leave eligible items at the curb on cleanup day to be picked up by City of Pensacola Sanitation Services. The cleanup includes bulk items such as household appliances, furniture and mattresses, bicycles and toys, tires and old paint.

Sun Belt Conference Coming to Pensacola in 2021

The Sun Bet Conference announced on Tuesday morning that Pensacola has been selected to host the Sun Bet Conference Basketball Championships in 2021-2025. We are looking forward to having men's and women's tournaments here in the City of Pensacola, bringing an incredible economic impact for the entire community. Big things are happening in our city!

Tierra Verde Park Playground Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Mayor Grover Robinson, Councilman P.C. Wu, District 1, the Scenic Heights Neighborhood Association and the City of Pensacola Parks and Recreation Department cordially invite the public to attend a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the re-installation of Tierra Verde Park playground, 5850 Reynosa Drive, on Saturday, March 14 at 10 a.m.

The land was acquired in the 1970s but established as a park in 1999 from the efforts of two young girls who approached the City Council with a request to allocate funds for its development. Tierra Verde has evolved into a beloved neighborhood park within the Scenic Heights community. The City of Pensacola alongside community members of Scenic Heights have invested time and effort into this project and are proud to present it to the public.

Veterans, PGA HOPE Golf Lessons Starting Soon

Osceola Golf Course has partnered with PGA HOPE, Helping Our Patriots Everywhere, to offer six weeks of golf instructional sessions on Tuesdays beginning March 17.

The PGA of America and local PGA Professionals are working closely with the VA system across the country to assist veterans in their transition. PGA HOPE introduces golf to veterans with disabilities to enhance their mental, social, physical and emotional well-being.

Sessions are taught by local PGA professionals with assistance from trained volunteers and include clubs and equipment, training aids, range balls and weekly golf course access.

Session Schedule: Tuesdays, March 17-April 28 • 9-11 a.m.
Graduation Day: Tuesday, April 28
Location: Osceola Golf Course, 300 Tonawanda Drive, Pensacola
