City of Pensacola Resident Satisfaction Survey Results Now Available

Survey Sees 55 Percent Increase in Resident Participation

The City of Pensacola has received results from the 2019 Resident Satisfaction Survey, which shows an overall satisfaction with core city services, the city's image and business-friendly environment. A total of 808 residents completed the online survey, which was a 55 percent increase from the number of survey completions in 2018.

The survey was conducted by the University of West Florida Haas Center to assess resident satisfaction with a variety of city services and determine residents' top priorities for the City of Pensacola. Data will be used by the city to identify budget priorities and areas for improvement to provide high quality services to residents.

Highlights from the survey results include:
  • Overall, respondents remain satisfied with core city services. Residents reported high satisfaction with police services, fire services and Parks and Recreation.
  • More than half of respondents (52 percent) said they were either very satisfied or satisfied with the ease of obtaining information about city services.
  • Generally, participants were satisfied with the city's image and business-friendly environment.

City and County Encourage Community Participation in 2020 Census

The City of Pensacola and Escambia County are encouraging all residents to participate in the 2020 Census to ensure everyone in the community is accurately counted during the nation's once-in-a-decade headcount of every person in the United States.

The results of the 2020 Census will help determine how hundreds of billions of dollars in federal funding flow into communities including the City of Pensacola and Escambia County every year for the next decade. That funding shapes many different aspects of every community throughout the U.S., from highway planning and public transit to educational programs and housing assistance.

Some important Census dates include:
  • March 12 - 20: Households will begin receiving official Census Bureau mail with detailed information on how to respond to the 2020 Census online, by phone, or by mail.
  • March 30 - April 1: The Census Bureau will count people who are experiencing homelessness over these three days. As part of this process, the Census Bureau counts people in shelters, at soup kitchens and mobile food vans, on the streets, and at non-sheltered, outdoor locations such as tent encampments.
  • April 1: Census Day is observed nationwide. By this date, every home will receive an invitation to participate in the 2020 Census. Once the invitation arrives, you should respond for your home in one of three ways: online, by phone, or by mail. When you respond to the Census, you'll tell the Census Bureau where you live as of April 1, 2020.
  • April: Census takers will begin visiting college students who live on campus, people living in senior centers, and others who live among large groups of people. Census takers also begin conducting quality check interviews to help ensure an accurate count.
  • May - July: Census takers will begin visiting homes that haven't responded to the 2020 Census to help make sure everyone is counted.
  • December: The Census Bureau will deliver apportionment counts to the President and Congress as required by law.
