Pensacola International Airport to Host Runway 5K Benefiting USO
Hundreds of runners and walkers will take off on the Pensacola International Airport runway Saturday, Dec. 7 for the Seventh Annual Runway 5K benefiting the United Service Organization Northwest Florida.
The Runway 5K
begins at 10 a.m., with a post-run event featuring activities for the whole family. Registration is $35 until Friday, Dec. 6, and registration on the day of the event will increase to $45. For more information or to sign up, visit runway5k.com. Sponsored by Pensacola International Airport and the City of Pensacola, the 5K aims to honor and remember National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day day with a unique and fun run that takes place on the runway. All proceeds go to USO Northwest Florida, whose mission is to keep local military connected to family, home and country throughout their service to the nation.
“It is a joy to partner with USO Northwest Florida each year to benefit their mission," Airport Director Dan Flynn said. "This year particularly is special because the run falls on Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. It is going to be a great event, and we look forward to seeing everyone and supporting USO."
All participants will receive a T-shirt, timing bib, a special finisher’s medal and free food before and after the run. There will be special awards in several categories. Walkers, strollers and children are welcome.
Pensacola International Airport is located at 2430 Airport Blvd.
