REMINDER: City Hosts Two Meetings on
Vulnerability Assessment Project
Join the City of Pensacola in a discussion on resiliency planning on Jan. 24 at 4 p.m. in our first virtual public meeting for our recently updated Vulnerability Assessment.
The City of Pensacola has been engaged in a planning process over the last year to update its Vulnerability Assessment initially conducted in 2021. Grant funding received from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Office of Resilience and Coastal Protection is allowing the city to comply with new state legislative requirements. The city is completing the modeling and analysis for the project, and now we are conducting a two-part series of public meetings to gain your input.
In the two-part public meeting series, the city will present information about its planning process, the state’s requirements, the modeling and analysis completed and the state of the city’s vulnerability to flood risk from sea level rise, tidal flooding, rainfall and combined flooding events. We will also have maps available for the public to request certain areas for review and a deep dive into specific flood risk scenarios.
In the second meeting, Feb. 15 at 4:30 p.m. in person at City Hall, we will focus on information about the city’s critical assets and infrastructure and other regional assets located in Pensacola to determine how to prioritize the city’s adaptation response. We will be identifying “hot spots” where there are city assets at risk and the city would like the public’s feedback to ensure that our proposed priorities are correct.
We are seeking the public’s input to ensure we have included all of the important city assets and infrastructure, that we have developed the right priorities and that we hear from you on the types of adaptation response you would like to see the City of Pensacola pursue.
