City Seeking Escambia Children's Trust Grant for Children's Resource Center
The City of Pensacola is seeking a nearly $3.5 million grant from the Escambia Children's Trust to fund a children's resource center focused on healthcare, in partnership with Community Health Northwest Florida and Lakeview Center.
If awarded, the grant would allow the City of Pensacola to work with these community partners to provide children and their families with valuable resources at the Morris L. Eaddy Lakeview Activity Center, located at 1110 W. Lakeview Ave.
The proposed project would renovate the existing facility to create a children's resource center that would be dedicated to providing integrated healthcare services and resources for local youth. Once renovated, the center would include a pediatric clinic operated by Community Health Northwest Florida and on-site behavioral health services offered by Lakeview Center, an affiliate of Lifeview Group. The City of Pensacola Parks and Recreation Department would also offer community programing at the center, with an emphasis on child and family development.
Mayor D.C. Reeves announced the grant application today, Monday, June 12, during his weekly press conference, where he was joined by representatives from Community Health Northwest Florida and Lakeview Center.
"Any initiative that provides resources for children in our community should be our greatest priority," Mayor Reeves said. "I am excited about the prospect of this partnership, and I am hopeful that the Escambia Children's Trust will support it with grant funding so we can work together to give our children more resources, services, and opportunities."
The total grant request is $3,495,000 to acquire and renovate the facility, with the city and its partners contributing an additional $442,450 in matching funds.
The city initiated this project with Lifeview Group beginning in summer 2022, with a goal of providing accompanying services to the nearby Fricker Resource Center owned by the City of Pensacola.
The city expects to submit the grant application this week.
