Public Comment Period Open for City Disaster Housing Rehabilitation Program
The City of Pensacola is considering applying to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity for Hurricane Sally Community Development Block Grant-Disaster Recovery funding under the Rebuild Florida Housing Repair and Replacement Program.
The proposed project will fund a single-family housing rehabilitation/repair program for low and moderate income owner occupied households with unmet needs due to Hurricane Sally. In developing a CDBG-DR application, the city plans to minimize displacement of persons as a result of these activities.
The Rebuild Florida Housing Repair and Replacement Program was launched with $45 million in funding to help repair, replace, or reconstruct homes damaged by Hurricane Sally. While the budget for the proposed project is still under development, the estimated funding request is $6 million. Applications are due to DEO May 15, 2023.
A public meeting is being sponsored to afford citizens the opportunity to provide input and recommendations concerning community needs in relation to this application. The meeting will be held on Monday, May 1 at 4:30 p.m. at Pensacola City Hall, 222 W. Main St., in the Hagler-Mason Conference Room on the second floor.
In addition to direct input provided during the public meeting, a public comment period to obtain citizen comments will be open through May 9, 2023. Written comments may be submitted using the online public comment form. Citizens may contact Meredith Reeves at mreeves@cityofpensacola.com or 850-858-0311 for further information or a copy of the proposed application.
Individuals seeking accommodations for disabled or non-English speaking persons wishing to provide a response to this public notice should contact Kevin Boyer at 850-435-1822 or by emailing kboyer@cityofpensacola.com at least seven calendar days prior to the comment deadline to allow time to provide requested services.
