Pensacola Energy to Begin Improvement Projects April 26

Pensacola Energy will begin upgrading the natural gas system in two areas of the City of Pensacola on Wednesday, April 26.

The improvement projects will be completed between Barrancas Avenue, Main Street, and A Street, along with an area along Raintree Drive, Driftwood Drive, and Menendez Road near 12th Avenue. Please see the maps below for details.

Construction will consist of replacing approximately 16,500 feet of metal pipes with new polyethylene pipes, which will significantly reduce the chances of natural gas leaks while also reducing overall greenhouse gases. Metal residential service lines to the street will also be replaced.

During the construction of these projects, Pensacola Energy customers should expect to see crews in the area and a brief service outage during the transition to the new gas main. Residents in the work areas have also been notified via door hangers with additional information.

Construction for the area near Driftwood Drive is expected to be completed in approximately two weeks, and construction for the area near Main Street is expected to be completed by July 2023, weather permitting.
