Stephen Ringl Selected as City of Pensacola
Innovation & Technology Director
Stephen Ringl has been selected as the new Director of Innovation & Technology for the City of Pensacola, responsible for developing and implementing a strategic vision in all areas of technology for the city.
Ringl joins the City of Pensacola from the City of Milton, where he served as the IT Director since 2019. He earned his bachelor's degree in business and management from Pensacola State College, along with his associate's degree in computer information systems. Ringl brings more than 15 years of experience in the information technology field to the new role.
"I am incredibly excited to join the City of Pensacola's team as the new IT Director, and I am honored and humbled that city leadership has entrusted me with this role," Ringl said. "I look forward to continuing my career in information and technology, and especially the opportunity to find innovative ways to provide essential services to City of Pensacola employees as they work to serve the public every day."
As the Director of Innovation & Technology, Ringl will facilitate the integration of digital tools and best practices into usable tools for City of Pensacola employees and citizens. His responsibilities will include overseeing all technology programs and services, along with implementing new technology. Ringl will also ensure that technology infrastructure is maintained for city employees, including hardware, software and web-based tools.
In his previous role as the IT Director for the City of Milton, Ringl was responsible for creating an annual budget for the Information Technology Department, including scheduling future upgrades and change initiatives. He also managed the network for all municipal buildings, developed and maintained IT standard operating procedures, and developed and maintained information security policies.
Ringl also holds several certifications through the Computing Technology Industry Association, including Security+, Network+, and A+. He is also a Certified Disaster Recovery Engineer through Mile2 Cybersecurity.
At the City of Pensacola, Ringl will work under the direction of City Administrator Kerrith Fiddler to develop and implement a strategic vision for the use of technology in city government, along with supporting and implementing the city's strategic plan. Ringl will also keep up with current IT trends, maintaining knowledge of current research findings and forecasts related to the effective use of technology in city government.
Ringl will also ensure that employees have access to the appropriate technology tools necessary to complete their work, evaluate the performance of IT employees and oversee their training and professional development.
