City Completes Hurricane Sally Repairs at
Community Maritime Park
The City of Pensacola has completed Hurricane Sally repairs to Community Maritime Park including the floating day dock marina, providing free daytime use for the public to dock their boats and enjoy this beautiful city waterfront park.
Repairs to the park included new brick pavers, railings, electrical work and bulkhead restorations that were damaged during Hurricane Sally, in addition to repairing the floating day dock.
The day dock marina is currently open to the public through October, but will close during construction of the
Community Maritime Park Day Use Marina project beginning in late fall 2022. This project will provide a waterfront access point for boaters and kayakers at Community Maritime Park.
The project design was funded by the Community Redevelopment Agency and construction will be funded by a Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission grant. The day dock marina is open for daytime docking only; no overnight berthing is allowed.
The city appreciates the public’s patience as staff worked through the FEMA process required to acquire necessary approvals and funding to move forward with Hurricane Sally repairs, including Community Maritime Park repairs. In addition to the FEMA approval process, which is necessary for the City of Pensacola to receive federal funding for hurricane repair projects, some construction timelines were delayed by the nationwide shortage of lumber and material.
