Burgess Road closed for sidewalks and drainage improvements

Burgess Road will be closed from Joy Street to Chapel Street beginning Monday, Oct. 18 as part of the Burgess Road Sidewalks and Drainage Improvements Project. Traffic will be detoured via Parker Circle. Only local traffic will be allowed access. This road closure and detour will remain in place through Friday, Nov. 19, weather permitting.

The Burgess Road Sidewalks and Drainage Improvements Project, a partnership between the City of Pensacola and Escambia County, will add new sidewalks along the north side of Burgess Road from Sewell Street to Lanier Drive and along the south side from Joy Street to Mona Lane to better connect the neighborhood and provide enhanced safety for pedestrians.

The project will also include significant drainage improvements with the addition of new storm structures and pipes, modification of existing ditches and construction of new drainage inlets.
