FDOT: Closures Planned for 17th Avenue Near the Pensacola Bay Bridge

Chipley, Fla.– 17th Avenue southbound travel lanes from north of the Graffiti Bridge to Bayfront Parkway will be closed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 22 through Thursday, Aug. 26. Both north and southbound lanes will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27 through 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 30. The temporary closures will allow crews to work on the 17th Avenue tie-in to the new interchange that is under construction at the foot of the Pensacola Bay Bridge. 

During the closures, southbound traffic on 17th Avenue will be detoured to 14th Avenue using East Belmont Street. Pensacola Bay Bridge traffic destined for 17th Avenue northbound will be detoured to Ninth Avenue. 

The planned activities are weather-dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to use caution, especially at night, when traveling through a work zone and to watch for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.
