Pensacola International Airport to Close at 6 p.m. Tonight (Sept. 14)
In preparation for inclement weather from Hurricane Sally, Pensacola International Airport will close today, Sept. 14, at 6 p.m. CST to all arriving and departing commercial aircraft. The airport will remain closed until weather conditions improve and allow for safe operation. Passengers with scheduled flights are directed to contact their airline for rescheduling. The airport will be closed to normal traffic during this closure and passengers will not be allowed to stay in the terminal building.
“The safety of our passengers and employees are our top priority. Closing the airport is a coordinated effort between our staff, the FAA, and our airline partners to protect and keep everyone safe, ” Airport Director Matt Coughlin said.
Pensacola International Airport Operations team is in direct communication with Escambia County Emergency Operations Center as well as FAA to coordinate decisions in regard to the closure and reopening the airport.
