Legion Field to Close for Park Improvements Beginning Aug. 17
Beginning Monday, Aug. 17 at 7 a.m., Legion Field will close to the public until further notice while upgrades are made as part of the Legion Field Improvements Project. The park's closure is expected to last for the duration of the year and extend into early 2021.
The City of Pensacola has begun preliminary construction efforts to provide beneficial upgrades to Legion Field. The Legion Field Improvements Project will include a new football field press box, sidewalks, pavilion, lighting and a splash pad. The park improvements will be built to meet all applicable federal, state and local standards and specifications.
During the construction phase, the park grounds will be closed to the public. The park grounds include all grass areas, park playground, paths, seating and the LeaP Into Fitness Court.Exceptions:
The Theophalis May Resource Center and Westside Branch Library will remain open during construction. Citizens may use onsite parking to access both buildings.
Construction is expected to take place Mondays through Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. The project's construction is expected to conclude by early 2021.
