Registration Now Open for 2022 City of Pensacola
Citizens Academy
Registration for the 2022 City of Pensacola Citizens Academy is now available on the City of Pensacola website through Sunday, April 10. This
free, nine-week course provides an opportunity for citizens to get an inside look at City of Pensacola government, including tours, demonstrations and more.
Click here to register for the 2022 City of Pensacola Citizens Academy."After a two-year break due to COVID-19, I'm excited to bring back our Citizens Academy and provide an opportunity for residents to have a behind-the-scenes, interactive experience with the City of Pensacola," Mayor Grover Robinson said. "Our employees work incredibly hard every day to serve our citizens, and this is a great way for them to connect with the public and highlight the work we do to keep our city moving forward."
The 2022 Citizens Academy will meet every Tuesday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. starting
Tuesday, April 26 through Tuesday, June 21. Some classes may run until 8:30 p.m. to allow time for additional information and demonstrations. Dinner will be provided to registered participants each night of the academy.
Anyone interested in learning more about local government is encouraged to register. Participants must be 18 or older, but do not need to live within Pensacola city limits.

Why participate in the Pensacola Citizens Academy?
1. Get a Closer LookThe Pensacola Citizens Academy features site visits, field demonstrations, and department tours. You’ll get a one-of-a-kind opportunity to take a closer look at the city’s services and initiatives. The nine-week program is an ideal way to learn about the tremendous efforts of city employees that make Pensacola “Florida’s First and Future."
2. Take a Behind-the-Scenes Tour of the CityThe Pensacola Citizens Academy gives you a private tour of Pensacola, including inside looks at City Hall, Pensacola International Airport, Port of Pensacola, community venues, the Pensacola Police Department and the Pensacola Fire Department.
3. Develop a New PerspectiveHave a chance to meet City of Pensacola employees and learn about the work they do every day to keep the city running, whether it’s maintaining parks, building new infrastructure, operating the airport and port, or responding to requests from citizens. The academy will even give participants an opportunity to step into the role of a firefighter or a police officer and get a taste of their day-to-day work life.
4. Meet New People and Discover Ways to Get InvolvedThe program gives participants an opportunity to meet other engaged citizens in the Pensacola area, also highlighting volunteer opportunities and city boards for those interested in getting involved in the community.
