There's still time to register for the Bayou Hills Run City of Pensacola 5K/10K Championships on Saturday, March 28, which will give runners the opportunity to earn bragging rights and the title of City Champion.
Formerly known as the Bayou Hills Run, the Bayou Hills Run 5K/10K City Championships are a partnership between Pensacola Sports and the City of Pensacola.
Registration is open at
bayouhillsrun.org, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Creative Learning Academy.
“We have always had a great partnership with the City of Pensacola," Pensacola Sports President and CEO Ray Palmer said. "With the City sponsoring the Bayou Hills Run and joining us in creating the City Championships, we are excited for the opportunity to strengthen that relationship and elevate this already successful race to an even higher level.”
Overall male and female winners in both the 5K and 10K categories will go in front of City Council and be recognized, as well as being presented with awards with the title “Pensacola City Champion” on them.
“We live in a very active community, and I’m proud to partner with Pensacola Sports to continue to provide opportunities for runners to challenge themselves while enjoying our city’s natural beauty,” Mayor Grover Robinson said. “We hope this event will continue to grow and attract runners from throughout the region to experience everything the City of Pensacola has to offer.”
The Bayou Hills Run 5K/10K City Championships is a challenging race that includes several steep inclines and declines, fitting for a city championship. The course begins and ends at Bayview Park and goes down the bayou, through the 12
th Avenue tree tunnel, and all throughout one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in Pensacola, Historic East Hill. The post-race party at Bayview Park is a great setting with views of Bayou Texar, the race finish, Cervantes Bridge, and Escambia Bay in the background.
