A Pensacola Police officer will retire from the department this week after serving the community for 22 years.
Officer Garland McKenzie began his law enforcement career as a cadet on January 11, 1982 and was promoted to police officer on October 4, 1982. He resigned from the department on August 27, 1987 to pursue other interests and was rehired on October 2, 2000.
Among his assignments have been Uniform Patrol, field training officer and school resource officer.
A retirement reception for Officer McKenzie is scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, at police headquarters.
