A Pensacola woman was arrested Tuesday afternoon after an investigation determined she physically abused a 14-month-old male left in her care for 12 hours.
Rainna Anne Sakry, 52, of the 400 block of Vancouver Street was charged with cruelty toward a child/abuse without great bodily harm.
Police were dispatched to a local hospital on January 11 after a child was taken there with significant bruising on his buttocks, back and legs. The child was taken into protective custody by the Department of Children and Families.
Detective Matthew Mercado determined the bruising on the child’s inner thighs was consistent with finger marks as if his legs had been grabbed and forcefully squeezed, and that bruising on his back and buttocks was consistent with that which would occur from overzealous spanking or being forcefully struck which caused broken blood vessels.
