Pensacola Police are searching
for a man who stole a woman’s purse from her vehicle on February 18 and then
went shopping with a woman using the victim’s stolen credit card the next day.
The incident occurred sometime
between 4 and 5 p.m. February 18 in the 200 block of South Florida Blanca
Street. The suspect initially approached the victim and her husband as they
were standing outside their home and asked if he could stay at their house for a
while because he didn’t have anywhere to stay. The woman’s husband told the
suspect they were unable to provide any type of shelter.
The woman told police she then
walked to her vehicle, put her purse on the back seat, sat in the driver’s seat,
and closed the door. She said the suspect opened the back door, grabbed her
purse and ran. The victim chased the suspect on foot and saw him jump into the
front passenger seat of an older model silver/gray sedan with dark tint. The
car then fled the scene.
Detective Gilbert Galloway Jr.
said the victim’s husband uses a walker and was unable to help chase the
suspect.
The suspect was described as a
black male in his mid-20s, approximately 6 feet 4 and 220 pounds.
On February 19, the suspect and a
woman were seen on surveillance video in a local department store where they
purchased approximately $2,300 worth of merchandise using the victim’s credit
card, which had been inside her purse.
