A Pensacola man is hospitalized
in serious but stable condition after the motorcycle he was riding collided
with a Jeep this afternoon.
The crash occurred around 2:40
p.m. near the intersection of North N and West Cervantes streets.
Officer Kevin Smith said a 2004
Honda VTX motorcycle driven by Emett Stromas, 68, of Pensacola was northbound
on N Street. Smith said Stromas stopped at a stop sign at N and Cervantes
Street and was going to make a right-hand turn when he pulled in front of a 2006
Jeep Wrangler, which also was eastbound on Cervantes Street.
The Jeep was driven by William
Allen, 55, also of Pensacola. Allen was wearing a seatbelt and was not hurt in
the crash. Stromas was wearing a helmet.
Stromas was issued a citation for
failure to yield right-of-way, Smith said.
Cervantes Street was blocked to
motorists from approximately 2:40 p.m. until 4:20 p.m. between N and M streets
while officers investigated the crash.
