No one was injured this morning
when an unoccupied vehicle rolled into the water near the 17th
Avenue boat ramp.
The incident was reported to
police around 8:56 a.m.
Officer Matt Maracle said a woman
got out of the vehicle to talk with a friend at the boat ramp but forgot to put
the vehicle into park. Maracle said the 2010 Silver Buick SUV rolled forward
about 10 feet before it went into the water…and floated out about 60 feet.
Firefighters from the Pensacola
Fire Department arrived on scene with a boat and assisted AA Towing with
hooking a cable to the vehicle to pull it back to shore.
Maracle said the woman, who lives
in Gulf Breeze, had borrowed the vehicle from a friend.
