The Veterans Memorial Park Foundation of Pensacola, Inc. announced today the initial members of its 13-member Board of Directors.
The foundation, which emerged as a result of a Veterans Memorial Park Steering Committee formed by Pensacola Mayor Ashton Hayward, is tasked with providing for the ongoing maintenance, preservation, and improvement of Veterans Memorial Park.
The members announced today include the original six members of the steering committee – Jack Brown, David Glassman, Joseph Glover, Michael Swineheart, Charles Switzer, and Butch Hansen – as well as newly-appointed members John Ochs, Roger Rowe, Jill Hubbs, Robert Rivera, John Clark, Paul Entrekin, and Joe Denmon. City of Pensacola Building Official Bill Weeks will serve as Mayor Hayward’s ex officio representative on the board.
“I want to thank the board members for volunteering their time as caretakers of this special park,” said Mayor Ashton Hayward. “The framework we have put into place allows us to move forward with transparent oversight and to ensure that Veterans Memorial Park continues to be the first-class memorial that our veterans and our community deserve.”
Initial officers of the board include Jack Brown as president, Charles Switzer as vice president, Butch Hansen as secretary, and Michael Swineheart as treasurer.
“It’s an honor to serve on this board alongside such distinguished and capable individuals,” said board president Jack Brown. “I’m excited to get underway, and I know this board will do a great job of improving our Veterans Memorial Park and maintaining it for future generations.”
The new board members will be sworn in and seated at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, June 25 in the Hagler/Mason Conference Room on the second floor of City Hall.
