The U.S. Tennis Association’s Florida Executive Committee has selected Roger Scott Tennis Center to receive the 2015 Member Organization of the Year Award.
With 18 hard courts and 10 clay courts, all lighted, Roger Scott Tennis Center is Pensacola’s premier tennis facility and one of the most acclaimed facilities in the region. The center was previously named National Municipal Facility of the Year by Tennis Industry Magazine in 2012.
This is the second time Roger Scott Tennis Center has received USTA Florida’s Member Organization of the Year Award. “We won this same award in 2007 before the clay courts were built (four years ago). Since then the number of events and programs at Roger Scott has expanded tremendously,” said Bruce Caton, Director of Tennis.
Caton credits the clay court addition with enabling Roger Scott Tennis Center to expand its tennis programming and events, but he says it’s really the people and the organizations who have worked hard to promote tennis in Pensacola that helped the facility earn this top honor for the second time. “This award wouldn’t have been possible without the tremendous support of the tennis community, Pensacola Sports Association, local tournament organizers such as the Pink Ribbon Tournament Committee and Pensacola Wheelchair Open, Parks and Recreation and Mayor’s Office staff, and the dedication of the entire staff at Roger Scott Tennis Center.”
Roger Scott Tennis Center will be honored at the Association’s annual meeting in November.
