TALLAHASSEE - The State of Florida continues its tradition of being well represented at the National Senior Games. Over 400 Florida senior athletes, age 50 and over, will compete at the 2015 National Senior Games in Bloomington/Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota.

The biennial event begins Saturday, July 4 and concludes on Thursday, July 16 with over 10,000 athletes competing in 19 sports. Two sports, Disc Golf and Judo, will be contested as Demonstration Sports.

Of the more than 400 athletes, 11 are from the Pensacola area. Among the 11 is bowler Lawrence Draeger, who is one of only four senior athletes to roll a perfect 300 game in the history of the Florida Senior Games. Draeger won a men’s doubles gold medal and a singles silver medal at the 2014 State Championships in the 75-79 age group.

The Florida athletes traveling to Minnesota qualified for the 2015 National Senior Games at the 2014 Florida International Senior Games & State Championships last December in Lee County. Since 2001, over 3,000 Florida athletes have travelled to the National Senior Games.
