The renovation and expansion of concessions areas at Pensacola International Airport will be completed tomorrow when the Airport’s new Chick-Fil-A opens at 4:00 am.
“I’m excited to welcome chicken biscuits and waffle fries to Pensacola International Airport,” said Pensacola Mayor Ashton Hayward. “With this addition, we have a complete slate of concessions providing travelers with more variety and value as part of our ‘Fly Easy’ experience.”
The Chick-Fil-A joins the Pensacola Beach House bar and restaurant, Einstein Bros. Bagels, and Freshens. The post-security Pensacola Beach House features a full kitchen managed by Michael Isabella, a Washington, D.C.-based chef who competed on the sixth season of "Top Chef" and later on "Top Chef All-Stars" and "Top Chef: Duels.” Einstein Bros. Bagels, a leader in the quick-casual segment of the restaurant industry, offers fresh-baked bagels and other baked goods, made-to-order sandwiches, crisp salads and gourmet coffee. Freshens, which bills itself as a “fresh food studio,” focuses on crepes, salads, and flatbreads, along with fresh-blended smoothies and frozen yogurt.
Thus far in 2015, food and beverage sales are up 15.4% over last year, and sales per enplaned passenger have increased from an FY14 average of $3.19 to $4.60 in April 2015. The City’s contract with OHM Concessions Group is expected to generate more than $1 million over ten years in additional revenue for Pensacola International Airport. “Increasing non-airline revenue will allow Pensacola International Airport to be more competitive,” said Mayor Hayward. “Growing our airport and competing for new carriers and new routes is critical as we work to secure a larger share of the future for Pensacola.”
