[ARCHIVED] City of Pensacola ready for hurricane season

The start of the 2015 hurricane season is just days away and the City of Pensacola is advising residents to also prepare for the effects of a potential hurricane.

In leading up to hurricane season this year, representatives of the City met on May 12, for emergency preparedness training at City Hall in order to plan ahead for this year’s hurricane season. City, County and area representatives also participated in a simulated hurricane exercise at the Escambia County Emergency Operations Center on May 20.

“At City Hall, we’re working closely with Escambia County to ensure that our area is fully prepared for hurricane season, and that any disaster response is tightly coordinated,” said Mayor Hayward in a public service announcement.

Hurricane season begins on June 1, and continues until November 30.
