The City of Pensacola is joining forces with Fiesta of Five Flags to celebrate reaching 30,000 #upsideofflorida hashtags on Instagram. This celebration is combined with the return of the Elcano by hosting an Instameet.
This Friday, May 29, residents from all over Pensacola will come together to photograph the famous Spanish ship at Plaza de Luna on Palafox Street. The Instameet will begin at 6:30 PM and will allow Pensacola Instagram users to gather, exchange photography advice, and produce content together to share on their own Instagram accounts. Instagram users that cannot attend the Instameet can still participate via social media by posting a picture of a favorite Pensacola spot and using the hashtag #upsideofflorida.
The Juan Sebastian de Elcano, the world’s third largest tall ship, last visited the Port of Pensacola in 2009, to celebrate Pensacola’s 450th anniversary. The famed ship is utilized by the Royal Spanish Navy to train her naval cadets. The Elcano’s return to Pensacola has been much anticipated, and marks an excellent photographic opportunity for any Instagram-savvy resident.
