Neighborhoods are one of Mayor Hayward’s top priorities, and that commitment extends to growing Pensacola’s next generation of neighborhood leaders. The Neighborhood Leadership Academy is a valuable resource for all citizens: designed to build neighborhood leadership, enhance awareness of and access to City services, and create ambassadors for the City.
The 2015 Neighborhood Leadership Academy Graduates:
George Harry Stopp
The 2015 Neighborhood Leadership Academy began on March 3rd and assembled every Tuesday evening. This course is a free nine-week hands-on, interactive introduction to the inner workings of the City of Pensacola and its departments. Tours and demonstrations make the course both informative and fun. Each week, attendees visited various City departments and facilities for a behind-the-scenes look at the mechanics and operations of City government. In an appreciative letter to the Office of the Mayor, George Harry Stopp, a retired former prosecutor, responded to a visit to Pensacola Fire Department Station #4, “the firefighters and officers at Station #4 did a wonderful job of showing us how a fire station operates and how all the fire stations in the City of Pensacola function to keep the citizens of Pensacola safe from the destructive power of fire.”
Attendees from across the area concluded this nine week course last night with a graduation ceremony at Osceola Golf Course. The City of Pensacola congratulates the 2015 Neighborhood Leadership Academy Graduates.
