Posted on: March 26, 2019[ARCHIVED] Portside Pensacola Vision Plan and Reinvestment Strategy now available to view online

The Portside Pensacola Vision Plan and Reinvestment Strategy was presented to the City Council during a City Council Workshop on Monday, March 25. The 88-page document was put together by the global infrastructure advisory firm of Moffatt & Nichol.
Since June 2018, the consulting team of maritime and urban planning experts engaged with the City and community through multiple workshops and online surveys to gather input on what the Port of Pensacola could and should look like in the future. Key findings emerged and Moffatt & Nichol created three conceptual site plans in the study area. The study area included all waterfront property from Commendencia Slip to Bartram Park, which is made up of the Port, public and private property.
The final vision reinforces the desire for core Port operation areas, while underutilized land and waterfront assets would engage in new pursuits in science, technology, education, research and business. Based on input gathered by Moffatt & Nichol, the elimination of the Port was not something the community wished to come to fruition.
Key steps moving forward for implementation of the vision plan include follow-on studies and initial investments, supported by market conditions and sustained determination by individuals and groups over the long term.
