On September 20, 2016, Pensacola Housing staff members Marcie Whitaker and Dawn Corrigan were the guest speakers at the monthly meeting of the Gulf Coast Real Estate Investors Association, an education, information and advocacy group for real estate investors, speculators, landlords, flippers, and property managers.
The presentation, entitled “Why On Earth Would I Want to Be a Section 8 Landlord?,” provided an overview of the Housing Choice Voucher Program from a landlord’s perspective.
Approximately 30 local real estate investors were on hand to listen to the presentation and ask questions about the advantages and disadvantages offered by the Section 8 rental assistance program. Staff also provided information about HUD-VASH, the voucher program for homeless veterans.
Pensacola Housing is grateful to association president Daniel Upshaw, and to the whole GCREIA group, for the opportunity to meet with them.
Local real estate investors who are interested in more information about the program can call program manager Dawn Corrigan at (850) 858-0324.
