On September 28, 2016, several Pensacola Housing employees were honored at the City’s monthly Employee Recognition Event.
First, Demetrius Pettway, customer service representative for the Inspections Department, was named the City’s September Employee of the Month. Mr. Pettway was nominated by several housing employees after an incident at the Housing Division in late August. Demetrius and another employee, Bill Daughdrill, were alone in the Inspections area when Demetrius realized Bill was in distress and struggling for air. Drawing on his military training, Demetrius quickly performed the Heimlich maneuver, staying with Bill until he was able to speak again.
Mr. Daughdrill retired from public service in September. We’re happy he’s here to enjoy his retirement, and wish him the best!
In addition, customer service representative Jea Plana was recognized for a year of service with the City. Ms. Plana became a permanent member of the Housing team on September 14, 2015. In her work with Housing she wears many hats, including receptionist, phone agent, accounts payable, quality control, and administrative support for the Housing Choice Voucher team.
Congratulations, Demetrius and Jea!
