An Open Letter to Local Landlords and Property Managers

Posted on November 25, 2014 at 8:37 am by Dawn Corrigan

The City of Pensacola Housing Choice Voucher Program (commonly known as Section 8) provides rental assistance to low-income families in the private rental market. The Pensacola Housing Office is interested in growing its base of Escambia County landlords who work with the program, to expand the housing opportunities for residents who are elderly, disabled, working poor families, or homeless veterans.

Are you a landlord in Escambia County interested in participating in the Housing Choice Voucher Program? Or do you know a landlord who might be interested in participating? Here are a few benefits for landlords to consider:

  • Improved Collections: Through this rent subsidy program, if a family experiences a loss or reduction of income, in most instances the Housing Assistance Payment will increase.

  • Good Clients: Pensacola Housing conducts criminal history background checks on all potential Housing Choice Voucher clients. Landlords are able to develop their own selection criteria as well. A participating landlord is never required to rent to a family that does not meet all their eligibility requirements.

  • Low Vacancy Rates: Because clients are always looking for quality affordable housing, a Housing Choice landlord may experience less vacancy.
